How it started…

Mill Pond Ceramics Studio was started in January 2023 by Tammy Ackerman, the co-founder and former director of the Biddeford arts organization, Engine. After leaving Engine in January 2020, the plan was to move to Boston, but, well, you know, the world changed. So she took up ceramics once again, getting back into the swing at Chases Garage, and then began looking for space within walking distance of her Biddeford mill apartment. After hearing so many people talk about wanting to take clay workshops and not being able to find an opening, Ackerman decided to jump in with both feet and make it happen in Biddeford.
