FAQ

How do I become a member at Mill Pond Ceramics Studio?
Mill Pond is a community space. To ensure that everyone works well both in the space and with each other, all potential members must demonstrate the ability to work independently by completing an in-person interview with studio management. Email us to arrange a tour.

Is there an age requirement at Mill Pond Ceramics Studio?
Yes. The minimum age for classes, workshops, memberships, and studio rentals is 18. For younger kids, we recommend Mill Studio Arts.

Can anyone take a multi-week class or workshop?
Yes. All of our classes are organized by instruction levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. If you’re not sure whether a class or workshop is a fit for your skill level, just reach out and ask us. Click the Learn button on our home page and read more about our current offerings.

If a multi-week class or workshop is full, is there a wait list I could be added to?
If you would like to be notified of an opening in a specific multi-week class or workshop, please email us.

If I’m not sure about taking a multi-week class, could I just try wheel-throwing?
Yes. A great way to get a feel for wheel-throwing is at our one-hour Spin Session on Saturday mornings. Read more at Spin Session.

What do you do about cancellations?
Different classes and workshops have different cancellation policies. Please be sure to check the page of the class or workshop when you’re signing up.

Do you offer private tutoring?
Yes. We offer one-on-one sessions for everything from wheel-throwing to advanced surface decorating. Tutoring is open to both members and nonmembers. Read more at Tutoring.

Do you offer open-studio time?
No. Our studio is too busy with students taking classes and workshops, and our monthly members, to accommodate open-studio time for the public.

Do you ship clay?
No. We only supply clay to our students and members.

Can nonmembers fire work at Mill Pond?
Yes. We offer pay-to-fire space in our community kilns, as well as full kiln rentals. Read more at Kilns.
