Building a clay community
Mill Pond Ceramics Studio is a small community. We want to be sure everyone works well both in the space and with each other. All potential members must demonstrate the ability to work independently by completing an interview with studio management to evaluate fit.

Shelf Membership
All memberships will have use of common spaces and equipment. 24/7 access but members should “give way” when there is a class scheduled and move to alternative areas of the studio. When students are learning to glaze, they may be in both rooms. Just ask the instructor where you may work. Refer to our studio calendar to see when classes are running.
Your membership will include:
Equipment: use of 13 Shimpo VL Whisper pottery wheels, community tools, and equipment.
Kilns: Cone 05 bisque and mid-fire Cone 5 glaze firings.
Studio clays: Laguna #65 white stoneware and Laguna #80 red brown. Both are super versatile in throwing and hand-building and both are also good beginner clays. Available for purchase from the studio only. No outside clays are allowed without discussion with management.
Glazes: Members are welcome to use our house glazes. If you want to use commercial glazes like Amaco or Mayco, please just pass by management to make sure it’s not low-fire or high fire.
Discount on sessions while a member: For 7-week sessions, we will suspend membership for the duration of session. For shorter sessions or workshops, we will extend a discount, depending on workshop budget, to all members and current students.
Pricing
New pricing effective June 1, 2024. Our pricing update reflects rates that are inline with other regional studios. While pricing increases are never fun, this increase is necessary to continue to provide the 24/7 studio access to both students and members as well as maintaining staffing to achieve a high bar of studio operations.
Shelf Membership: $145/month. Size: 36”w x 18”d x 12”h shelf (648 sq. in. with 12” of height).
1/2 Shelf Membership: $75/month. Good for June currently. Pricing and feasibility under review.
We no longer offer larger shelving due to space constraints.
Studio Space
Studio spaces: $295/month
Studios are approximately 8 x 8 dedicated spaces with perimeter 1/2 wall dividers that allow for limited privacy. Studio tenants can have their own wheels, tools, shelves, etc., plus use of common area, tools, and equipment and enjoy all the studio benefits shelf members enjoy.
