This is a 7-week session running Wednesday Sept 18th–October 30. Please note that this class runs on different dates from other classes. It starts a week later and ends a week later.

Wednesdays 5:30pm—8:30pm

STUDIO ACCESS AND POLICIES

Students get free reclaim clay, open student hours to work, and a half shelf to store tools and work on.

Ideal for complete beginners or someone who has taken a class or two. You’ll learn about the characteristics of clay and the basics of wheel throwing including centering and learning to throw simple forms, as well as surface decoration techniques and glazing. An overview of studio policy and protocol is included.

BRING (and please label everything):

  • Apron or towel

  • Notebook and pen/pencil

  • Tools: A wheel throwing tool kit is required or your own throwing tools:

Additional bags of new and reclaimed clay will be available for purchase through our website.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Isabella Rotman is a cartoonist and illustrator living and drawing in Maine. Isabella has been making ceramics for 2 1/2 years, and has been at Mill Pond since the beginning. Her ceramics work combines nature illustration with functional forms, and she particularly enjoys underglaze painting under a crazing clear glaze. This will be Isabella's first time teaching ceramics and she is very excited to get throwing with you!
