INSTRUCTOR Tamsyn Bodwell
LEVEL Beginner to Beginner-Intermediate
This 4-week session is ideal for a complete beginner or a beginner-intermediate (someone who has taken a few classes). You’ll learn about the characteristics of clay and the basics of wheel throwing including centering and learning to throw simple forms, as well as surface decoration techniques and glazing. An overview of studio policies and procedures is included.

This class includes:
Weekly instruction (3 hours per week)
A personal shelf (18w × 18d × 12h)
One 25 lb. block of clay (*Students may purchase up to one additional 25 lb. block of Clay)
All kiln firing and glaze costs
Use of studio tools and equipment
Extra studio access during Student Practice Hours

Tamsyn Bodwell earned a BFA ‘87 with a concentration in ceramics from Northern State University in her home state of South Dakota. In 2021, Bodwell dove back into the craft and launched her own practice, in addition to starting Mill Pond Ceramics Studio. She enjoys teaching as well as creating a space for others to enjoy pottery as a hobby.
