DATES Tuesday evenings, November 3 – December 15 (no class on Tuesday, November 24)
DURATION: 6 weeks
INSTRUCTOR AJ Byrd
LEVEL Beginner to Beginner-Intermediate
PAYMENT PLAN: 50% deposit upon checkout. Remaining 50% will be charged automatically on September 29 to the card used for this purchase.

This 7-week session is ideal for a complete beginner or a beginner-intermediate (someone who has taken several classes). You’ll learn about the characteristics of clay and the basics of wheel throwing including centering and learning to throw simple forms, as well as surface decoration techniques and glazing. An overview of studio policies and procedures is included.

Students receive:

Weekly instruction (2 hours per week)
A personal shelf (18w × 18d × 12h)
One 25 lb. block of clay: students may purchase one additional 25 lb. block of new clay and unlimited reclaim (while supplies last) from our SHOP
All kiln firing and glaze costs
Use of studio tools and equipment
Extra studio access during Student Practice Hours

Instructor AJ Byrd is an artist whose ceramic practice is steeped in ritual and observation. They use simple, intentional forms as a canvas to contemplate what they witness; be it the joy of seeing a bird they’ve never seen before, or the immense grief of change. They share their ceramics and the process of creating as a way to encourage some slowness in a rapidly changing world.

Payment Plan Policy

First Payment: A 50% deposit is required to register. Paying this deposit is a commitment to pay the full cost of the class.
Second Payment: The second 50% payment will be automatically charged at the halfway point of your class.

Studio Handbook & Policies
By registering for this class, students agree to all terms and conditions in Mill Pond’s Studio Handbook.

Cancellations / Make-Up Classes / Missed Classes

Mill Pond Cancellations
Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be canceled at least two days prior to the start of the session. Registrants will receive a full refund.

Registrant Cancellations

If a registrant cancels one week or more prior to the start of a session, a full refund will be given (less a processing fee).
If a registrant cancels less than one week prior to the start of a session, a 50% refund will be given.
If a registrant cancels for any reason once a session has started, no refunds/credits are available.

Make-Up Classes
If any classes must be cancelled during a session due to weather, instructor illness, or other unforeseen reasons, make-up classes will be added to the end of the session.

Missed Classes
If a registrant misses any classes during a session for personal reasons (including illness), no partial refunds/credits are available.
