End-of-Session Student Policies
Continuing Students
All students must clear their shelves by the end of the last class of their session; work/tools/clay at the studio may not be stored at the studio. (*There are often empty Laguna Clay boxes on the rack near the main studio door and students are welcome to use them, but should also be prepared in case there are no boxes.)
Any greenware that has not been fired before the last session may be placed on the student greenware rack and will be fired during the student’s next session.
Continuing students who would like to keep their work/tools/clay at the studio may purchase a Gap Membership for the break-week(s) between sessions.
Gap Membership: This one or two week membership (depending on the break) for continuing students not only allows the student to keep their work/tools/clay at the studio, they will also have the exact same studio access they’ve had during their session: if they have greenware to trim, they can; if they have bisqued work to glaze, then can; if they want to come in and make new work, they can.
A new half-shelf will be assigned during the break week(s), and then the student will be reassigned to a regular student shelf when their new class starts.
Fee: $35 for one week; $70 for two weeks. (Gap Memberships are only available for the full session break; i.e. they are not available for just one week of a two week break.)
Break Week(s): No matter what day of the week a session ends, Gap Memberships run from the first Saturday after a session ends to the Sunday before the next session begins. Example of two-week break:
Old Session ends: Monday, January 1
Gap Membership begins: Saturday, January 6
Gap Membership ends: Sunday, January 21
New Session begins: Monday, January 22
Non-Continuing Students
All students must clear their shelves by the end of the last class of their session. (*There are often empty Laguna Clay boxes on the rack near the main studio door and students are welcome to use them, but should also be prepared in case there are no boxes.)
By the second-to-last class of the session, all trimmed, wet work must be on the greenware shelf in order to be bisque-fired and ready for glazing during their last class.
Students who are not continuing must finish all glazing by the end of their last class.
Any greenware that has not been bisque-fired by the last class must be reclaimed or removed by the student.
Exceptions: If a non-continuing student needs to glaze work after their class has finished, they may email admin@millpondceramicsstudio.com with their request. Exceptions can only be made in rare instances where circumstances beyond the student’s control caused them to be unable to have their work glazed by their last class. No trimming or bisque firing can be done after a class has finished, as students no longer have access to the studio.
