DURATION: 7 weeks
INSTRUCTOR Daisy Clennon
LEVEL Beginner to Beginner-Intermediate

This 7-week session is ideal for a complete beginner or a beginner-intermediate (someone who has taken several classes). You’ll learn about the characteristics of clay and the basics of wheel throwing including centering and learning to throw simple forms, as well as surface decoration techniques and glazing. An overview of studio policies and procedures is included.

This class includes:

  • Weekly instruction (3 hours per week)

  • A personal shelf (18w × 18d × 12h)

  • One 25 lb. block of clay (one additional 25 lb. block of clay may be purchased during a session)

  • All kiln firing and glaze costs

  • Use of studio tools and equipment

  • Extra studio access during Student Practice Hours

Students are encouraged to bring:

  • Apron (Purchase via Mill Pond HERE)

  • Wheel Throwing Tool Kit (Purchase via Mill Pond HERE)

  • ·Towels (Purchase via Mill Pond HERE)

  • Notebook and pen/pencil

  • Bucket, bag, or tool holder for storage

Instructor Daisy Clennon attended Bennington College in Vermont and graduations in ‘21 with a BA in Environmental Studies and Visual Art. She's been teaching at Handful Studios in Portland and previously was a ceramic technical assistant at Haystack and production potter at Wolf Ceramics in Seattle, WA. By registering for t
his class, students agree to all terms and conditions in Mill Pond’s Studio Handbook. Please take the time to read and acquaint yourself with these policies and procedures, as failure to follow them could result in termination of student registration with no refund.

Cancellations, Make-Up Classes, Missed Classes

  • One-Week Notice If a registrant cancels one week or more prior to the class start, they receive a full refund (less a $10 processing fee).

  • Less Than One-Week Notice If a registrant cancels less than one week prior to the class start, they receive a 50% refund.

  • Once a Class Starts If a registrant cancels once a class has started, we cannot offer any refund.

  • Mill Pond Cancellations Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be canceled at least two days prior to the class start. Registrants will receive a full refund.

  • Credit We cannot offer credit for future classes for cancellations.

  • Make-Up Class If an in-process class is cancelled due to weather, an instructor illness, or other reasons, a make-up class will be added to the end of the session.

  • Missed Class If a registrant misses a class for personal reasons (including illness), we cannot offer partial refunds.
