  • An apron and a hand towel.

  • Mid-fire clay (12.5 to 15 lbs. is sufficient)

  • Studio will provide 12.5 lbs of Laguna #65 white or #80 red/brown clay.

Using your own original handmade bakeware that you can use for years simply adds to the delight and satisfaction of making a delicious casserole or beautiful pie to share. Making durable bakeware properly, with care and proper technique, is important. In this workshop, students will create a simple oval casserole dish, including learning to make a domed lid and some simple hand-built handle options.

FIRING:

  • All firings and studio glazes are included with Mill Pond membership

  • Non-members can either take their work to their own studio or pay-to-fire at .07 cents per cubic inch with a choice of a clear or one-color studio glaze.

Our guest artist, Julie Cunningham, is a ceramics instructor living in Portland, Maine. Julie has been working with clay for over 30 years. In addition to creating her own beautiful work, she also enjoys teaching people of all ages. As an instructor at Portland Pottery, Julie teaches hand building classes and has developed many longtime friendships.  Additionally, she has taught at  local colleges (University of New England, Southern Maine Community College) and is currently an adjunct professor and continuing studies instructor at Maine College of Art and Design.
