LEVEL Intermediate-to-Advanced
This 8-week session is ideal for students who want to move their skills into more advanced aspects of wheel throwing, surface decoration, and glazing beyond what is provided in the beginning wheel class.
PREREQUISITE Intermediate students must be competent in the foundational skills of wheel throwing including wedging, coning, centering, and pulling walls. Students should have taken at least one beginning wheel class at Mill Pond or elsewhere and demonstrate required skills. Your instructor can assess whether you are ready to move on to an intermediate class.
CLASS STRUCTURE In this intermediate class, you will explore new wheel-throwing techniques. Foundational skills will be revisited but the expectation is that you are confident in those skills and ready to push out of your comfort zone.
Prior to the start of this class, each student will propose topics for weekly demos that they are specifically interested in. Each student, during the first class, will propose a project that they would like to work on over the 8-weeks, culminating in a final presentation during the last class.
Examples of what may be covered in our intermediate class:
Throwing in multiple parts, throwing off the hump, throwing larger, lids and handles
