4-Week Hand-building with Kylie Smithline | Beginner/Intermediate | Wednesday Evenings

LEVEL Beginners/Intermediate
During this class, you will learn the basics of hand-building with clay or advance your skills if you have some experience. Students will have access for out-of-class hours to work on projects between classes. The outline for this shorter 4-week session is:
Week 1: Pinch or coil a plant pot.
Week 2: Make a whistle, figure, or an animal sculpture from hollow forms.
Week 3: Templated mugs with handles.
Week 4: Glazing your finished pieces.
Work will be picked up one week after last session.
Students Receive
25 lbs. of new clay (*Additional clay available for purchase)
A half-shelf to store work and tools
Open student hours in studio

Towel
Notebook and pen/pencil
Handbuilding tools (*Purchase Hand-building Tool Kit)
Bucket, bag, or tool holder for tool storage
Please label all personal items with a Sharpie

Kylie Smithline began working with clay in 2014 in high school in Washington State. She took a ceramics class which soon turned into a hobby then became a passion that led into her career. She furthered her education at Jacksonville University. In 2022, she graduated and received a BFA with a concentration in ceramics. By registering for this class, students agree to all terms and conditions in Mill Pond’s Studio Handbook. Please take the time to read and acquaint yourself with these policies and procedures, as failure to follow them could result in termination of student registration with no refund.
Cancellations, Make-Up Classes, Missed Classes
One-Week Notice If a registrant cancels one week or more prior to the class start, they receive a full refund (less a $10 processing fee).
Less Than One-Week Notice If a registrant cancels less than one week prior to the class start, they receive a 50% refund.
Once a Class Starts If a registrant cancels once a class has started, we cannot offer any refund.
Mill Pond Cancellations Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be canceled at least two days prior to the class start. Registrants will receive a full refund.
Credit We cannot offer credit for future classes for cancellations.
Make-Up Class If an in-process class is cancelled due to weather, an instructor illness, or other reasons, a make-up class will be added to the end of the session.
Missed Class If a registrant misses a class for personal reasons (including illness), we cannot offer partial refunds.
