INSTRUCTOR Daisy Hutt

LEVEL Beginners to intermediate.

This 6-week session is ideal for complete beginners or someone who has taken a class or two. You’ll learn about the characteristics of clay and the basics of wheel throwing including centering and learning to throw simple forms, as well as surface decoration techniques and glazing. An overview of studio policies and procedures is included.

Students Receive

  • One 25 lb. block of new clay, white or red/brown (*Purchase additional Clay)

  • A half-shelf to store work and tools

  • Open studio hours

Please Bring

  • Apron (*Purchase Aprons)

  • Towels (*Purchase Towels coming soon)

  • Notebook and pen/pencil

  • Wheel throwing tools (*Purchase Tool Kits)

  • Bucket, bag, or tool holder for tool storage

Instructor
Daisy Hutt hails from rural Vermont and graduated with a BFA in Ceramics from Maine College of Art in 2021. Since then, she has been teaching pottery classes and managing a studio in Gorham, Maine. She also loves teaching her Creative Aging pottery and paint classes at memory care and assisted living homes. Daisy often makes work in her small home studio and is especially interested in carving and illustrations on wheel thrown pottery. Visit her Instagram.

By registering for this class, students agree to all terms and conditions in Mill Pond’s Studio Handbook. Please take the time to read and acquaint yourself with these policies and procedures, as failure to follow them could result in termination of student registration with no refund.

Cancellations, Make-Up Classes, Missed Classes

  • One-Week Notice If a registrant cancels one week or more prior to the class start, they receive a full refund (less a $10 processing fee).

  • Less Than One-Week Notice If a registrant cancels less than one week prior to the class start, they receive a 50% refund.

  • Once a Class Starts If a registrant cancels once a class has started, we cannot offer any refund.

  • Mill Pond Cancellations Classes that do not meet minimum enrollment will be canceled at least two days prior to the class start. Registrants will receive a full refund.

  • Credit We cannot offer credit for future classes for cancellations.

  • Make-Up Class If an in-process class is cancelled due to weather, an instructor illness, or other reasons, a make-up class will be added to the end of the session.

  • Missed Class If a registrant misses a class for personal reasons (including illness), we cannot offer partial refunds.
